After a constructive audit by Lloyd’s Register, Aspida has successfully completed the transition as per the new ISO 28007-1:2015, demonstrating that Aspida provides appropriate Privately Contracted Armed Security Personnel (PCASP) on board ships.
“Transitioning to ISO 28007-1:2015 during a period of intense competition while at the same time expanding our company in various directions with new business units ranging from Cyber Security Training to Search and Rescue (SAR), always mindful of the human factor, not only we don’t neglect our core business but we keep investing in quality and this commitment is actualised by the successful transition to the new ISO,” Panos G. Moraitis CEO of Aspida noted.
By successfully completing the transition Aspida is also fulfilling the updated regulations of the Republic of the Marshall Islands Registry and IMO Circular, specifying that “effective of January 1st 2016 companies shall engage only those Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs) that are certified to at least the ISO PAS 28007:2012 standard and at renewal, certified to the new ISO 28007:-1:2015 standard by a United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) authorised certification body.”
“We are happy to see Aspida certified and be part of the PMSCs approved to be engaged on board Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) flagged ships, since the RMI Maritime Administrator views the implementation of ISO 28007:2015 for PMSCs as an imperative step towards enhancing the safety, efficiency, and reliability of engaging private armed security on merchant ships,” said Theo Xenakoudis, Director, Worldwide Business Operations of International Registries, Inc., which provides administrative and technical support to the RMI Maritime and Corporate Registries.
