The 15 LNG tankers that will transport LNG from Arctic LNG 2 project will come at a cost of more than 300 bn rubles ($4.5 bn). That was the discussion topic during a session of the Russian state-owned VEB.RF Bank Supervisory Board.
According to RF Premier Dmitry Medvedev, Novatek and Sovcomflot will collaborate with VEB in the project, whose cost will exceed 300 bn rubles.
In fact, as Igor Shuvalov, Chairman of VEB.RF, informed, one vessel could cost as much as $330 mn, and they are expected to be delivered by 2024.
The tankers that will carry the LNG, will be of a high ice class, aiming to transport LNG under the Arctic LNG 2 project. More specifically, they will navigate the Northern Sea Route, while also complying with the upcoming environmental regulations.
Mr. Shuvalov added that the construction of the ships should take place at the new shipbuilding complex Zvezda in the Far Eastm, mentioning that at the first stage, Samsung Heavy Industries will act as a technology partner.
