Another drunken captain caught in Danish waters
Denmark has seen another case of a drunken captain running aground with his ship. This time it was the Dutch captain on board the coaster Little Jane, which hit ground a few hundred meters before the Langelands Bridge on voyage to nearby Rudkøbing on the isle of Langeland. The coaster managed to come off the ground by its own power and arrived safely at Rudkøbing.
The police showed up and wanted a breath test of the captain, but he refused. Therefore he was arrested and taken to the police station at Svendborg to give a blood test. It showed an intoxication of 1.09 permillage of alcohol. He had to spend the night in a cell and may be fined DKK 6,000. Afterwards he returned to his ship in Rudkøbing.
The Little Jane is sailing in Wagenborg Management and is on 1,276 DWT.
