Certified legal and safe guard shipping
Ambrey Risk has now been formally awarded full certification & accreditation for ISO 28000: ISO/PAS 28007, following Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) being appointed as a Certifying Body’ (CB) against ISO/PAS 28007 by the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS).
This concludes the ISO/PAS 28007 Pilot, the first assessment of a maritime security company’s quality management system against an International Standards Organisation framework (ISO). Ambrey is at the forefront of a growing select pool of private maritime security providers – ISO/PAS 28007 compliant – able to demonstrate strict adherence to this international standard in the delivery of its risk management services.
John Thompson, Managing Director (UK), Ambrey Risk said, “Ambrey views the ISO/PAS 28007 as a key differentiator within the private security sector. Independently assessed against this ISO, we remain fully accountable to our clients in managing their risks in challenging environments.“
He concluded, “This official recognition adds to Ambrey’s recent accreditation from Manipal City & Guilds as the only Maritime Security Training company to deliver Maritime Security Operative (MSO) 8269 – 03 courses in India. Our current and future clients should be confident in choosing a security provider who offers integrity, parity of training standards across our MSO’s and the very highest standards of compliance and peace of mind, at attractive commercial terms.“
ISO/PAS 28007, as part of the ISO 28000 family of security standards, gives established guidelines to private maritime security companies (PMSCs) that supply privately contracted armed security personnel (PCASP) on board ships. Certification to these standards demonstrates to the international community that they, and their operatives, can legally, safely and effectively guard shipping.
LRQA is one of three certification bodies that participated in the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) pilot scheme. UKAS was appointed to assess certification companies offering assessment to ISO/PAS 28007, verifying that it uses competent assessors with the correct qualifications and that rigorous, tested auditing processes are being followed. This is key in ensuring the confidence of the shipping market.
