Carnival Corporation’s German-market brand, AIDA Cruises announced that in light of COVID-19 and its ongoing impact in the cruise industry, they’re cancelling all US and Canadian port calls for the rest of 2020.
The company highlighted that all scheduled plans for 2020 with port calls to in the U.S. and Canada cannot take place, adding that guests who have booked an affected trip will be informed, and they may opt for a cash reimbursement or a future cruise credit valued at 10% more than the original fare.
Also, the company stated that “As a result of the continuing effects of the coronavirus, the conditions for international travel to the USA and Canada are not yet in place.”
To remind, the cruise industry experienced numerous challenges, with increased COVID-19 cases onboard. Many cruise ships were quarantined and many passengers were tested in efforts to implement health and safety measures. Yet, as the crisis has not come to an end, many are the companies still not resuming operations, such as Hurtigruten and Royal Caribbean, among others.
