This Green Cruising strategy will investing billions of euros in a sustainable cruise market, both in sustainable propulsion technologies such as LNG and shore power, and environmental management on board.
For his part, Felix Eichhorn, President of AIDA Cruises, believes that agreement will further develop cruise tourism in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is an important step for AIDA to achieve an emission-free cruise.
In addition, Rostock’s Mayor, Roland Methling, mentioned that:
Shipping has to become more ecologically sustainable. Rostock is well advised, as the most important German Ostseekreuzfahrthafen and shipping company headquarters here to determine modern standards. This top position can only be expanded if we take even more ecological responsibility. In addition, a shore power connection will significantly contribute to the acceptance of cruise shipping on land.
