Stability and energy security are paramount to economic growth and any attack on a single tanker is an assault on the entire international community, said Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of UAE State and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
Dr. Al Jaber made these remarks while speaking on 25 June at a Bloomberg forum in London.
…The United Arab Emirates, with the sixth largest oil reserves in the world, views very seriously any threat to security of energy supplies. Any attack on a single tanker is an assault on the entire international community. It is a violation of the core values of free trade, peace, and prosperity that the UAE and peaceful nations stand for. That is why the UAE will work together with our friends and allies to defuse and deescalate the current threat and help ensure regional stability and the security of energy supplies to global customers,
…he was quoted as saying by Emirates News Agency.
He also underlined that now is the time for wisdom, diplomacy and the concerted efforts of the international community, adding that “we all have an interest in stable and secure market”. They are the essential foundation for economic progress, he stressed.
Dr. Al Jaber went on to address the impact of global economic trends on energy demand.
He highlighted that by 2030, emerging economies will consume two-thirds of the world’s energy and manufactured goods, driven by an unprecedented expansion in the middle class.
