Amid COVID-19 pandemic and the crew change issue that has arise, around 100 Indian seafarers are stranded at sea for almost three months, waiting to return back home.
According to Mumbai Mirror India times, 100 Indian seafarers have been stuck off the coast of Philippines onboard the cruise ship MS Noordam, waiting for their repatriation back to India.
With their repatriation flight cancelled at the last minute, four of the crewmembers decided to start a hunger strike in order to attract the attention of the Indian Government concerning the crew change issue.
For the records, the majority of the stranded crew onboard MS Noordam belongs to different cruise liners.
In fact, there have been transferred there since the vessel serves as a floating hotel which accommodates all the stranded seafarers of the pandemic.
Overall, in light of the crew change situation, Georgia is one of the first countries to designate seafarers as “key workers” and to have allowed crew change and rotation on its territory.
