ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. has announced a new long-term cooperation agreement with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) for the Asia – US East Coast and Asia – US Gulf trades.
According to ZIM, this partnership, set to begin in February 2025 pending regulatory approval, aims to enhance ZIM’s port coverage and operational efficiency, benefiting its customers with improved service quality. ZIM’s CEO Eli Glickman highlighted that the collaboration results from ZIM’s fleet renewal program, enhancing its competitive position in key trade routes.
Glickman also emphasized ZIM’s focus on sustainability, noting that their LNG-powered vessels will play a key role in the partnership, reducing the environmental impact. The agreement spans three years and includes vessel sharing and slot swap arrangements across six services, connecting ports in Asia, the US East Coast, the Gulf, and the Caribbean.
To remind, it was also recently announced that the Premier Alliance (ONE, HMM, and Yang Ming Marine Transportation) will also cooperate with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) in Asia-Europe trade starting February 2025.
