Vega-Reederei is extending its fleet by ordering 10 Conoship International 3,800 DWT Diesel-Electric Coasters.
According to Conoship, the 3,800 DWT Conoship is a General Cargo Vessel for the short-sea shipping trade. The vessels can be readily converted to full-electric by replacing three primary engines with green power sources such as hydrogen cells. It is powered and propelled by electro motors in conjunction with diesel generator sets.
The propeller has a large diameter, to aid efficiency and minimize fuel consumption. The design also provides the possibility of integrating a unit for wind-assisted ship propulsion.
The vessels were designed by Dutch Conoship, and the construction contracts were signed by a subsidiary of the Sinomach Group. Deliveries will begin as soon as as August 2024 until May 2025, on a monthly basis.
