Sharp decline in pirate attacks and hijackings in 2012 compared to 2011
The United Nations has published the report of the Secretary-General to the Security Council on the situation with respect to piracy and armed robbery at sea off the coast of Somalia.
The joint efforts of the international community and the private sector to counter piracy have resulted in a sharp decline in pirate attacks and hijackings in 2012 compared to 2011.
