Bangchak Sriracha (BSRC) delivered its first load of B24 Marine Biofuel, totaling 470 metric tons, to the IRIS LEADER (NYK LINE) at Laem Chabang Port, Sriracha, Chonburi.
The B24 Marine Biofuel, composed of 24% UCOME (Used Cooking Oil Methyl Ester) and 0.5%S Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO), is a low-emission alternative that requires no modifications to ship engines or fueling infrastructure, Bangchak Sriracha noted.
The event was attended by Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Group CEO and President of Bangchak Corporation, along with senior executives from Bangchak and BSRC, including Gloyta Nathalang, Anuwat Rungruangrattanagul, and Warakorn Kosolpisitkul. Also present were Koyama Kenji, Executive Officer of NYK Trading Corporation (Japan), and Takanori Kokubu, Senior Sales Manager of NYK Trading Corporation.
Generally, biofuels have been gaining popularity in the maritime industry. Lloyd’s Register in its FOBAS Fuel Insight report for the second half of 2024 highlighted a continued trend upwards in the use of biofuel.
