Five wind turbines are slowly being towed out into the North Sea, during the summer, in order to create world's first floating offshore wind farm. The first of the 11,500-tonne turbines has been already put in place at Buchan Deep, 15 miles off the north-east coast at Peterhead.

After loading its cargo at the Snøhvit LNG export terminal in Norway, the first ice-breaking LNG tanker, Christophe de Margerie, is taking the Northern Sea Route to Boryeong in South Korea, where it will deliver a cargo for Total Gas & Power, the company informed.

Eco Marine Power announced that it has begun preparing for sea trials of its Aquarius Marine Renewable Energy solution, in co-operation with strategic partners and ship owner Hisafuku Kisen K.K. of Onomichi, Japan.

BOURBON has entered MoU with Automated Ships Ltd to support the building of the world’s first autonomous, fully-automated and cost-efficient prototype vessel for offshore operations, in collaboration with the project’s primary technology partner, KONGSBERG.

MOL announced that three of its 50,000 DWT methanol carriers received prize rewarding the most technologically advanced ships. The vessels are the world’s first methanol carriers with main engines that use methanol as fuel.

Keppel Offshore & Marine announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Shipyard, will soon deliver the world's first converted Floating Liquefaction Vessel owned by Golar Hilli Corporation, a subsidiary of Golar LNG. The vessel was named Hilli Episeyo at a ceremony in Keppel Shipyard on 2 July.

The Norwegian companies Kongsberg Seatex and Radionor have teamed up to develop Maritime Broadband Radio. Norway is the first nation in the world to implement maritime broadband communication on ships and aircrafts in public service, which enable exchange of information, limiting damage when accidents occur.

DEME’s latest newbuild, the trailing suction hopper dredger ‘Minerva’, was officially named in the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, on June 23rd. The 3,500 m3 trailing suction hopper dredger is the first dredging vessel in the world equipped with dual fuel engines and capable of operating in LNG mode.
