Watch: Robot drones to inspect offshore wind farms

A new project launched, aims to construct the world’s first fully autonomous robotic inspection solution, in favour of offshore wind farms. The project will cost $5 million, and the robots are expected to save the average of wind farm by about $33 million. In the meantime, it aspires to present the idea that offshore wind operations and maintenance missions can take place by autonomous and digital means.

World’s first digital shipping company in 2019 to be revealed soon

As Loginno informed, only two weeks remain to unveil the world’s first digital shipping company. Namely, under its initiative ‘Contopia Factor’, the startup will select one organization to have its entire container fleet digitalized in 2019. Earlier this week, Loginno announced that the final scoring of the competition’s contestants had taken place, and a notice to the winning shipping company has been sent.

Gazprom Neft, part of Russian oil and gas company Gazprom, announced launch of the world’s first ever digital Arctic-logistics management system, aiming to ensure uninterrupted year-round shipments of crude produced and to improve efficiency in logistics management.

High resolution radar increases safety in busy ports

Wärtsilä launched its RS24 high resolution radar, which is the world’s first commercially available K-band maritime radar. The radar is able to detect far smaller objects and at a much higher radar resolution, in comparison to conventional S or X-band radars. It also enables small vessels and other potential hazards close to large ships to be visible. This promotes safety, especially in congested shipping lanes and busy ports.

World’s first artificial intelligence technology on cruise ship

MSC Cruises launched ZOE, the world’s first virtual personal cruise assistant using artificial intelligence technology. ZOE is a voice-enabled artificial intelligence tool, that will be located in every stateroom. The technology provides information depending on the cruise, while it also speaks seven languages. ZOE will be firstly launched on MSC Bellissimma and then will be available in every ship, including future ones. 

World’s first Singapore-based MaritimeTech accelerator launched

Eastern Pacific Shipping and Techstars announced that they are to launch the world’s first global MaritimeTech startup accelerator, ‘EPS MaritimeTech Accelerator Powered’ by Techstars. This start-up accelerator, that will be based in EPS’s headquarters in Singapore, collaboration will be the first of its kind to target the maritime industry. The ‘EPS MaritimeTech Accelerator Powered’ aspires to mentor the next generation of entrepreneurs in the industry.

World’s first digital survey on container ship

Last week DNV GL and Klaveness Ship Management report that they conducted the world’s first digital survey on board the container ship MV Bardu. The survey gave full insights into the maintenance data from the vessel through live dashboards. The dashboard tells how many maintenance jobs MV Bardu has had in the last year and how many jobs where done before and after on due date.
