US MARAD to fund small shipyards

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration announced it will make available $9.8 million in Federal funding to support capital improvements and employee training at small U.S. shipyards. The grants, provided through the Small Shipyard Grant Program, aim in a modernization of operations, efficiency improvement and a highly skilled workforce.

MARAD releases LNG Vessel Operations Emission report

The US Maritime Administration announced the availability of a report that quantifies methane slip and fugitive emissions from using liquefied natural gas (LNG) for vessel operations and bunkering. The study, completed in partnership with the University of Delaware and the Rochester Institute of Technology, builds upon earlier work identifying life cycle emissions associated with LNG use using a “well-to-hull” analysis.

MARAD funds further study for LNG as propulsion fuel

 The Maritime Administration (MARAD) has announced a $900,000 cooperative agreement with Totem Ocean Trailer Express Inc. (TOTE) to further develop knowledge regarding the costs and benefits of vessel conversions to liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion. TOTE will convert the containership MV Midnight Sun to operate on LNG and will work with MARAD to obtain pre and post-conversion air emissions data, and operational information to assist maritime stakeholders in assessing the potential of LNG conversions.This demonstration project on the use of LNG for containership propulsion is a part of an ongoing program to promote increased use of alternative fuels and technology in the maritime industry.  The MV Midnight Sun is a Roll-on/Roll-off (RO/RO) cargo ship, which provides round-trip shipping service between the Port of Tacoma, WA and the Port of Anchorage, AK.The study is expected to be completed by 2018.Source: US MARAD / Image Credit: TOTEIn the origin, I was open with you propecia before and after has changed my existence.
