During the 2019 SMART4SEA Conference, Giannis Moraitakis, E&A Business and Sales Development, Wärtsilä Greece, highlighted that, as the world is moving toward a more and more connected future, the opportunities offered through smart technology will foster a new era of collaboration and knowledge sharing with customers, suppliers and partners.

Wärtsilä, an advanced maritime technologies company, has published a 360° experience video that shows the successful testing of its automated dock-to-dock solution. Up to now, the prototype has been tested with small vessels and ferries that travel short distances. Yet, the technology can be used for vessels that 'repeatedly sail the same journey', such as containers and tankers.

The 2019 SMART4SEA Conference successfully concluded on Wednesday 30st of January, at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) at the Bookcastle of the National Library of Greece, attracting 600 delegates representing a total of 270 organizations.

Estonian shipping company Tallink Grupp and the TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy started a scientific collaboration with the aim of developing smart ship solutions, for the next two years, according to Tallink's press release.
