Shell's Prelude FLNG facility shut down operations after a fire started in an electrical utility on December 2.

Royal Dutch Shell announced on March 18 that it shipped the first condensate cargo from its Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project off northwestern Australia. The 116,000dwt tanker Advantage Atom arrived at Prelude from Singapore on March 20.

Shell announced, on December 25, that the wells have been opened at its Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility located 475km north-north east of Broome in Western Australia.

In its Sustainability report for 2017, oil major Shell outlined its key activities related to LNG, as part of its overall efforts for a lower-carbon energy system. Shell is the largest LNG marketer of all independent oil and gas companies, selling LNG to around 70 customers in about 25 countries.

Shell's Prelude built to last
