Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is defined as the process for organizations to integrate social, environmental, ethical and human rights concerns into their operations and core strategy, in close collaboration with their stakeholders. In this context, SAFETY4SEA’s annual survey aims to assess the CSR performance of the maritime industry by examining 10 factors according to ISO 26000 requirements and CSR strategy of EU.
During the 2019 SAFETY4SEA London Conference, Mr. Dustin Eno, COO, Navigate Response, noted that the shipping industry is more visible now than at any time in history; from AIS vessel tracking, to seafarer social media activity, people can see the industry like never before. Information is now more available to outside watchers than before.
SAFETY4SEA’s annual survey, the so called ’’Shipping CSR500 Survey’’ highlights once again the many benefits that CSR practices offer to the industry’s organizations which realize their responsibility as part of the society and their contribution to the environmental sustainability in order to move forward.
