Rightship launches New Dry Bulk Management Standard

RightShip announced a new program for the dry bulk sector which aims to ensure the highest levels of safety, security and environmental excellence. The new Dry Bulk Management Standard (DBMS) aims to support the improvement of safety and risk management standards within dry bulk ship management and  help drive collaboration, conversation and increased standards in the sector.

High potential near miss incidents reported in helicopter landing areas

Rightship reported that it has recently seen an alarming increase in the number of High Potential Near Miss reports regarding poor preparation of helicopter landing areas. The majority of the cases have involved loose items of equipment, in particular slack fire hoses. Specifically, loose items of equipment and slack fire hoses will move in an unpredictable manner when exposed to helicopter down-wash.

RightShip appoints new CEO

RightShip, the maritime risk management and environmental assessment organisation, announced it has appointed its new CEO, Martin Crawford-Brunt, who will replace outgoing CEO Warwick Norman. Mr. Crawford-Brunt takes up his new post on 12 March 2018 and will initially be based at RightShip's London office.

RightShip, NI to develop an ISGOTT equivalent for the dry bulk sector

RightShip and The Nautical Institute are now partnering with a number of industry peak bodies in the preparation and peer review of a proposed guide which will feature best practices to raise standards in the marine solid bulk cargo sector. RightShip notes that currently there is no ISGOTT equivalent in the solid bulk cargo sector and believes that this initiative will have a direct and positive influence on safety.
