ABB’s project to convert two HH Ferries’ vessels into the world’s largest emission-free ferries is gathering pace after Öresund Dry Docks was selected to carry out the work. M/F Tycho Brahe and M/F Aurora will both be fitted with 4.16 MW of batteries and the containers with the battery racks will be lifted on board in February 2017.

The Port of Long Beach said that solar panels have been installed in the port area to prevent 1,127 tons of carbon dioxide annually from polluting the environment. The port commits to sustainability with the installation of a 904.75kW Mitsubishi Electric photovoltaic (PV) system at the second-busiest seaport in the United States.

The US EPA has announced that it finalized increases in renewable fuel volume requirements across all categories of biofuels under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program. More and more countries are demanding fossil-free energy for marine fields of application.
