The Department of Justice (DOJ) in the Philippines has recommended the immediate filing of criminal charges against the owners and corporate officers of the Princess Empress tanker for their role in the Oriental Mindoro oil spill last February.

On 29th May, Dynamic support vessel (DSV) Fire Opal has begun oil siphoning operation in Naujan municipality to seal off leaks from the sunken tanker Princess Empress, which sank south of Luzon off Pola, Oriental Mindoro on February 28th.

On 23th May, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), deployed a response team to contain the oil spill that was detected in two municipalities in Batangas.

Philippines' authorities will file criminal charges against those involved in the oil spill caused by the sinking of the MT Princess Empress off the coast of Oriental Mindoro in February. 

The Philippines Coast Guard (PCG) and a Japanese salvor have begun a bagging operation to seal off leaks from the sunken tanker Princess Empress, which sank south of Luzon off Pola, Oriental Mindoro on February 28th.

On March 14th, a Senate inquiry about the oil spill caused by the sunk tanker MT Princess Empress was held in Philippines, revealing that the vessel did not have permission to sail.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources of Philippines has released a statement claiming that with the help of BRP Hydrographer Ventura, they may have detected the possible site where the sunk vessel Princess Empress is located.

Search continues in Oriental Mindoro province, for the sunken cargo ship 'Princess Empress', which carried industrial fuel oil. Approximately 800,000 litres of oil have leaked into the sea, causing a 6km spill. 

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is monitoring a possible oil spill after an oil tanker sank off the coast of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro on Tuesday.
