Hoegh Autoliners has made a settlement with the US Department of Justice, regarding accusations over price-fixing. According to sources, the Norwegian company is to pay a fine of USD21 million to Middle East exports for illicit actions against competition.

The US Department of Justice announced that three shipping executives were charged in the Ocean Shipping Investigation, for colluding on bids and rates, bringing the total amount of indicted to eleven executives and four companies.

The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) announced that it has reached a compromise agreement with Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics AS (WWL) and Eukor Car Carriers, Inc., collecting a combined $1.5 million in civil penalties. WWL has agreed to pay a $98.9 million fine for its involvement in a conspiracy to fix prices of international ocean shipments of roll-on, roll-off cargo to and from the Port of Baltimore and other locations in the US.

The European Commission has adopted a decision that renders legally binding the commitments offered by fourteen container liner shipping companies. The commitments aim to increase price transparency for customers and to reduce the likelihood of coordinating prices.
