Piraeus Port Authority and Huawei announced the contract conclusion for the modernization of the PPA network infrastructure. Utilizing the latest technology, Huawei Greece will replace the existing network infrastructure, offering speed data rates from 20Gbps up to 80Gbps.

The new plan for the Greek port focuses on the future development of the Port in pursuit of the techno-economic data related mainly with the enhancements included in the development plan. The timeframe of the plan covers the period 2016-2021 and aims to create the appropriate facilities.

At the beginning of 2018, Chinese COSCO Shipping initiated new projects, in order to improve the Greek port of Piraeus, Greece's largest port. These projects aim to enhance the relations between Greece and China and set the port as Asia's gateway  to Europe.

On October 3, COSCO Shipping, inaugurated a new cruise project, Pier Saint Nikolaos in the Greek port of Piraeus. The project provides an extra cruise berth over 250 meters.

The Greek-flagged ferry boat 'Panaghia Tinou' is taking on water and sinking at Piraeus Port. The 5,122-gt ferry, built 1972, has lost its stability and tugboats are currently at the port.

Greece is to sell its biggest port Piraeus Port Authority to shipping group China COSCO Shipping Corporation, marking the second major privatisation for the country since late last year.
