The New South Wales Ministry of Health, branded (NSW Health) have advised that free COVID-19 vaccinations will no longer be available to ship’s crew at Port Kembla from 31 December.

Australian authorities detained the Liberian-registered bulk carrier 'Anna-Elisabeth' after crew onboard the vessel complained of insufficient food, bullying aboard the vessel and denial of shore leave. ITF received the complaints from onboard the ship berthed at the Port Kembla Coal Terminal on 25 March.

The Port Kembla Gas project in Australia entered its most advanced phase. Namely, the specific site within Port Kembla has been selected, front end engineering and design has been completed, the FSRU vessel has been secured, the Environmental Impact Statement has been submitted and reviewed, and a number of key commercial contracts are nearing finalization.  

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has instituted proceedings in the Federal Court over the agreements signed between NSW Ports Operations Hold Co Pty Ltd and the State of New South Wales, claiming that these have an anti-competitive purpose and effect.

ATSB announced it has started an investigation on the fire that occurred onboard the bulk carrier 'Iron Chieftain' at Port Kembla, on 18 June. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will notify those affected and seek safety action to address the issue.

As a direct result of customer feedback, the PKPC Board of Directors has recently approved increasing the number of Marine Pilots from a total of 7 to a total of 9.
