Maritime safety equipment manufacturer VIKING Life-Saving Equipment announced it has acquired the Norwegian boatbuilder Norsafe. The two companies share virtually identical missions, both focusing on people's safety and leading their respective markets through constant innovation.

Norwegian life-saving systems manufacturer Norsafe announced it has recently developed a modern, Partially Enclosed Lifeboat providing a secure and protected means of escape for persons on-board passenger vessels.

Norsafe informed that it has been working with Kongsberg to develop an Unmanned Surface Vessel to act as a combined autonomous and data collection platform with different sensors. The USV has been designed for simple transportation either by road trailer or containerised on deck.

Norsafe informed that it has secured its largest ever offshore contract to supply lifesaving appliances to ENI’s Coral South floating LNG facility located in Area 4, approximately 50 km from the Mozambique coast.

Norsafe announced that has received orders from Kværner relating to the delivery of three lifeboat systems of its largest freefall lifeboat, the GES 52, with compatible davits, to Statoil's Njord A platform. The lifeboat systems are built according to SOLAS and DNV-OS-E406. The contract will be delivered in 2018 and 2019.

Norsafe is concerned about recent spate of lifeboat drill accidents which have seriously injured or even led to fatalities among crew.
