The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) conducted a ferry emergency exercise (FEREX) at the Regional Ferry Terminal (RFT) at Harbourfront, to trial the competency of about 250 personnel from 10 government agencies, three ferry operators and Singapore Cruise Centre Pte Ltd in response to ferry mishaps.
MPA Singapore issued a revised marine notice, concerning the construction of outfall structure and installation of silt curtains off Changi East Staging ground. The notice applies to all mariners that operate off Changi East Staging Ground.
A recent change in the procedure for handling loss of anchor incidents in Singapore means that MPA Singapore now involves itself directly with the local contractors in such cases. This has also led to a change in the procedure for obtaining permission for the vessel to leave Singapore waters following such an incident.
