Ghana’s LNG import project has started construction, as two vessels were contracted to store and regasify the fuel by 2020. The LNG terminal will have the capability of importing 2 mtpa, leaving 0.3 mtpa of supplies for further negotiations. In addition, the project is not subject to finance or any other pending permit.

The project regards an FSRU/FSU in the Offshore Digha region of West Bengal to provide re-gasified LNG to customers in West Bengal and Bangladesh. The FSRU/FSU for this project will be provided by K Line. H-Energy shall hold 74% in the joint venture Company while K Line shall hold the remaining 26% stake.

The Alexandroupolis FSRU will be located off Greece, in the northern Aegean Sea, in 40m water depth and will be connected to shore through a 24km subsea pipeline. The FSRU is part of the Alexandroupolis Independent Natural Gas System, whose goal is to create a new natural gas gateway to central and south-eastern Europe.

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering announced that it has successfully demonstrated its indirect heat exchanger regeneration system, LNG cargo hold 'SOLIDUS' and 'MCTIB' at the Energy System Experiment Center in Okpo Shipyard. 

BMT’s AgileLNG floating storage regasification unit will incorporate gas engine or turbine systems and connect off-the-shelf with prefabricated elements to reduce the cost of gas distribution and power delivery. In this project, BMT collaborated with GL Engineering and LNG New Technologies.

Höegh LNG announced that, after considering its contract with GEI, the company decided to terminate the FSRU #9 charter agreement signed on 15 December 2016.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, announced it has signed an order for the fabrication, engineering and project management of a complete subsea mooring and riser system, to be used in Summit's floating storage and regasification unit. The project will be ready for operation in 2019.

Wison Offshore & Marine announced that it has inked a strategic cooperation agreement with containment specialist GTT, for the cooperation of the two companies in various LNG projects.

Samsung Heavy Industries informed that it has secured an order to build a 170,000㎥ LNG- Floating Storage and Regasification Unit for a consortium of Marubeni, Sojitz, and Pertamina.

MOL announced that a naming ceremony for the MOL FSRU Challenger was held at the Okpo shipyard of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Korea, on September 28. This is the first FSRU for MOL to independently build, own and operate.
