USCG works on management on MARPOL wastes at US ports and terminals

 The US Coast Guard has published the October 2015 edition of Waves on the Waterfront which includes an update on the USCG work with international partners on the management of MARPOL wastes at US ports and terminals among other issues.CG-FAC manages the Coast Guard’s Certificate of Adequacy (COA) which implements important international regulations and ensures U.S. compliance with MARPOL (the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships) at U.S. ports and facilities.CG-FAC Safety Branch staff recently attended the annual meeting of the Subcommittee on Ships and marine technology-Marine environment protection (SC2) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/TC8/SC2) in Hamburg Germany. New ISO 140001 is published

Timeline of the ISO14001 revision (click here to view full image). Learn more about the process of standard development here ISO 14001:2015 was published on September 15 after being approved by the vast majority of the member countries.The standard is by far the most used and recognized standard for environmental management, used by several hundred thousand organizations worldwide.Starting in 2011 it has been a long-lasting and extensive process to come to the final result. The revised standard is the culmination of the work done by around 120 experts from more than 80 countries. These are mainly delegates representing several national member countries, but also some other stakeholder groups.
