ISO 14001: final draft of revision expected in June

  The ISO Technical Committee, ISO/TC 207/WG 5, which is responsible for the revision of international environment management system standard ISO 14001, concluded their meeting in Chiswick, UK on Friday 24 April and has made significant progress towards the publication of ISO 14001:2015. During the latest meeting, the review of remaining comments which were received from the Draft International Standard (DIS) stage was completed and based upon this, it is expected that the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) will be published in June 2015 for the two month voting period to commence until August 2015. Based upon these timescales, it is currently expected that ISO 14001:2015 will be available in September 2015. LRQA System and Governance Manager, Steve Williams, is an IIOC (Independent International Organisation for Certification) representative on the committee and he explained why the outcome of last week’s meeting is so significant. “Based upon the volume of comments received at the DIS stage, we knew there was significant work ahead of us before we could prepare for the publication of the FDIS. RINA certifies Technomar to ISO environmental and energy standards

Greece’s Technomar Shipping has been certified to ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 50001 Energy Management standards by RINA Services. MOL earns ISO50001 and ISO14001certifications

MOL Ship Management a core ship management company in the corporate group headed by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced acquisition of certifications from Nihon Kaiji Kyokai, for Energy Management Systems (ISO50001*1) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001*2). NK Executive Vice President Koichi Fujiwara presented the certificates to MOLSHIP President Furukawa in July 29 ceremony at NK headquarters. MOLSHIP'S certifications, which cover ship management of dry bulkers, car carriers, and other freighters, as well as shoreside office operations, are the first ISO50001 certifications ever awarded by NK. MOLSHIP has strived to improve the energy efficiency of its vessels, which include MOL's concept vessel ISHIN series typified by the world's first new hybrid car carrier Emerald Ace. The company also makes every effort to prevent ocean pollution in ship management operations. The acquisition of ISO150001 certification recognizes the company's ongoing work in these areas.
