IAPH, PortXL to develop a platform for port innovation

IAPH has added maritime accelerator PortXL as partner onto its World Ports Sustainability Program. An agreement was signed last week to develop a worldwide innovation platform, where ports can engage in pilots and partnerships with start-ups and scale-ups.  

Nor-Shipping Ocean Leadership Conference 2019: First names announced

IMO Secretary General Kitack Lim, Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg, Lise Kingo, CEO of the UN Global Compact, Ann-Christin Andersen, TechnipFMC’s Chief Digital Officer, and technologist Ramez Naam, Chair of Energy & Environmental Systems at Singularity University, are the first high profile names announced for Nor-Shipping Ocean Leadership Conference 2019.

Italian partners team up to innovate ports

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has entered into a preliminary collaboration agreement with financial institution Cassa depositi e prestiti (CDP) and natural gas infrastructure company Snam, aiming to implement medium-term strategic projects for the innovation of port facilities in Italy and of sustainable technologies applied to maritime transport.

Norway to welcome new centre for ocean innovation

Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry announced the opening of the Ocean Innovation Norwegian Catapult Centre, a new centre to focus on development of new solutions for green growth within the ocean industries. The announcement was made on the sidelines of Siva conference in Trondheim on 5 June.

Finnish project focuses on a greener and smarter shipping

INTENS, a Finnish research collaborative consortium, led by the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, has jointly committed over €13 million in the next three years, with funding support of €5.6 million from Business Finland, the public agency for research funding, to promote and digitalize the country’s marine industry.
