Green Award certification programme for Chemical Tankers

From July 1st, chemical tankers with a DWT ≥ 20,000 are eligible for Green Award certification On the 1st of July 2012, Green Award Foundation will launch an additional certification programme. As of this date, chemical tankers with a DWT ≥ 20,000 are eligible for Green Award certification. The Foundation has been working on this programme for several years to amend the existing requirements, making it suitable for this type of ship. The initiation of this programme was driven by the demand from potential certificate holders and our own initiative, whilst at the same time the Foundation aimed to increase diversity in its certification scheme by increasing the impact by broadening the ship types to be certified.The first edition of the requirements for chemical tankers is issued in Annex 3d Green Award Requirements (Chemical tanker) of Chapter 7. Green Award to add chemical tankers to its portfolio of vessel types

Finalising the necessary documents to officially launch the certification The Bureau Green Award is to add chemical tankers to its portfolio of vessel types.Currently, the Rotterdam-based foundation said that is working on finalising the necessary documents to officially launch the certification for this vessel type.Vessels and operators wishing to enrol chemical tankers for a Green Award certificate will be able to download the requirements from the foundations' websiteThe foundation said that it plans to extend the scheme to other types of vessels in the future."We have already been contacted by a few shipping companies that expressed their interest in applying their chemical tankers for Green Award", the foundation said in its latest newsletter.In addition, all Green Award certified ships are now entitled to a 10% discount on the standard engineering costs of the service provided by JLMD E Group for its fast oil recovery system (FORS).JLMD is a French maritime engineering company, majoring in technologies for the recovery of pollutants leaked from ships and the developer of FORS. Three more Qatargas-chartered vessels receive green award

LNG certificates for the Japanese Big Three Qatargas received the Green Award for three more of its chartered Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) vessels - a significant recognition acknowledging the vessels' compliance with global environment regulations and safety standards.The Green Award for the vessels, 'Broog', 'Al Zubarah' and 'Zekreet' were presented to the vessel operators, in the presence of Mr. Alaa Abu Jbara, Qatargas' Chief Operating Officer - Commercial and Shipping by Mr. Jan Fransen, Managing Director of the Green Award Foundation, at a ceremony held at Qatargas' head office building in Doha.Also at the ceremony, the operators of the three vessels received the Green Award office certificate, which is a pre-requisite for the validity of the vessel certificate.Mr. Hiroshi Yonezawa, President of NYK LNG Ship Management Ltd. received the office certificate as well as the vessel certificate for 'Broog'. Green Award certifies first LNG carrier chartered by Qatargas

LNG ship "DUKHAN" -the world's largest LNG producing company On 14th October 2011, the Green Award Foundation marked the occasion, for the first time in its 18 year history, it has a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier on its list of certified ships. The LNG ship "DUKHAN" is chartered by Qatargas, the world's largest LNG producing company.In recognition of this milestone the Green Award Foundation handed over the first certificate to the MOL LNG Transport (Europe) Ltd. in an official ceremony at the Port of Ras Laffan on Friday 14th October, 2011. Green Award Certification Scheme to include chemical tankers

IBS offers Green Award certificate holders services at a 10% discount Rotterdam-based Green Award is developing certification specifically aimed at the chemical tanker sector.This move follows the launch of certification programmes for LNGCs and inland shipping. The organisation is also working on a programme for containerships.The new certificates will be available this Summer, the Green Award said.In addition, the organisation has increased the number of incentive providers with Regs4Ships and IBS Marine Consulting group joining the scheme.Regs4Ships specialises in providing digital regulations, technical information and IMO material for both vessels and shore-based personnel.The company claims to operate the world's only database providing up-to-date information on shipping regulations and technical matters.As a member of Green Award, Regs4Ships now provides a 10% discount on all of its products and services to Green Award certificate holders.IBS now offers Green Award certificate holders services at a 10% discount.
