Harren & Partner implements DNV GL ShipManager for entire fleet

German-based shipowner Harren & Partner will implement the DNV GL business intelligence software systems ShipManager Analyzer and ShipManager QHSE for its entire fleet of 52 vessels. Both innovative systems will enable Harren & Partner to extract data from operational systems and optimize management of its ships. The first trial implementation for the two software systems is expected to be running in April. By mid-year the entire fleet will have ShipManager Analyzer and ShipManager QHSE installed, allowing the integrated solution to support the improved performance, efficiency and safety of Harren & Partner´s fleet of container feeder vessels, bulk and heavy lift carriers, tankers, multi-purpose carriers and dock ships, ranging from 4,000 to 76,000 tdw. DNV GL won the tender after Harren & Partner conducted an in-depth review of available software on the market for its fleet, using sophisticated tools in order to evaluate the capabilities of all of the leading solutions. Sovcomflot takes delivery of dual-fuel power

Sovcomflot shipping company, has taken delivery of its latest LNG carrier - the ‘Velikiy Novgorod' - from South Korea's STX Offshore & Shipbuilding. The ship is equipped with a diesel-electric, dual-fuel propulsion system consisting of 2 × MAN 8L51/60DF and 2 × MAN 9L51/60DF engines, offering a total rated power of 34 MW, which were constructed at MAN Diesel & Turbo's Augsburg plant in Germany. The propulsion facility provides the LNG carrier with a highly efficient, low-emission propulsion system, especially when running in gas mode. It also features a high degree of redundancy, while the MAN 51/60 DF engines provide multiple fuelling options. The Velikiy Novgorod has been designed for sailing through sea ice and has an Arctic ice classification. The vessel has a total length of 300 m and a load capacity of 170,200 cubic metres of gas. It is the first in a series of ships to be built by STX Offshore & Shipbuilding in South Korea and becomes the fifth LNG carrier in Gazprom's fleet of long-term-charter tankers. NCL to install scrubbers from Green Tech Marine

To further the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship, Norwegian Cruise Line announced that the line will make a significant investment in the installation of 28 scrubbers on six ships in the line’s fleet. The company has contracted with Green Tech Marine for the outfitting of the scrubbers on Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Pearl and Norwegian Sun. The scrubbers will be installed starting this spring and installation will continue through 2016. Green Tech Marine also supplied the scrubbers on the line’s Hawaii-based Pride of America last year and will deliver 10 scrubbers to the company’s two new builds, Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Bliss, being constructed at MEYER WERFT in Germany. The scrubbers will be installed starting this spring and installation will continue through 2016.
