The Suez Canal Authority announced new rebates of its normal tolls for container ships, starting from 1st May, in a bid to encourage owners and operators to pass their vessels through the Canal.
In an updated circular, the Authority announced that container ships coming from ports at North West of Europe (and Tangier port) till Algeciras port and heading to (Port Klang) and its Eastern ports at South East of Asia and the Far East shall be granted a rebate of 17% of Suez Canal normal tolls.
It is underlined that the mentioned rebate doesn’t include levied surcharge for tiers of containers carried on the vessel’s upper deck.
This shall be applicable to vessels sailing from port of origin from 1st of May 2020 until 30th of June 2020.
This discount follows a previous rebate of 6% to normal tolls, announced in March 2020.
