The Sri Lanka Navy rescued the captain and 10 crewmembers who were onboard the distressed merchant ship “Mutha Pioneer”, 11.6 nautical miles off Colombo harbour, on 26 June.
The ship’s captain lost its control, something that caused the ship to list to the port side, the Sri Lanka Navy informs, adding that the vessels was carrying the Dominican flag. After the incident, the Navy deployed two Fast Attack Crafts, which safely rescued the crew. Al of the crewmembers were transferred to Colombo harbour.

The rescued crew was comprised of 10 Sri Lankans and one Indonesian person. The ship was sailing under command of a Sri Lankan Captain, and the rescued persons were handed over to Harbour Police, Colombo by Sri Lanka Navy.
