“Surf ‘n’ Turf” is a community energy project using hydrogen to open up new opportunities in the Orkney Islands in northern Scotland.
This video explains the what, where and how of channelling renewable energy from tidal turbines and a wind turbine into a hydrogen network that provides heat, power and eventually fuel for transport.
The project is a result of collaboration of the Community Energy Scotland, the European Marine Energy Centre, Eday Renewable Energy, Orkney Islands Council, and ITM Power.
