Port of Montreal announced via its Twitter account that it renewed its cooperation agreement with port of Antwerp. Port of Montreal and Antwerp have been collaborating for six years; The first cooperation agreement between the two ports was signed in 2013 for three years and got renewed in 2016.
Due to their efficient collaboration, the two Authorities decided to extend their partnership for ten additional years.
Thus, the two ports will collaborate on:
- Inter-port governance;
- Trade;
- Innovation;
- Sustainable development and energy transition.
In light of the collaboration, Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO of the Port of Antwerp commented
This long-term commitment shows how much the Port of Antwerp values its cooperation with the Port of Montreal.
In the meantime, port of Montreal highlights that the port of Antwerp is its largest trading partner, as 15% of Montreal’s containerized tonnages come and go to the port of Antwerp.
