21 Filippino seafarers abandoned off Malta seek for help
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has moved to the the suspension of a manning office that conveyed 21 Filipino seafarers who are currently stranded at the Port of Malta. POEA has taken measures to repatriate at least 21 Filipino seafarers abandoned for months aboard the vessel MV A Ladybyg off Malta.
POEA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac had commented in a Twitter post few days ago that the crew of the MV Ladybug, are “safe and in good condition” and arrangements were being made for their repatriation.
As it was mentioned in a Safety4Sea article posted recently twenty-one Filipino seafarers have been abandoned off the port of Malta for months and are looking for compensation from their financially stricken company. The Tawainese company has essentially surrendered them at ocean with no fuel and restricted nourishment and water.
POEA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac announced on his Twitter account that Southeast Asia Shipping Corp. had been suspended after it neglected to repatriate the seafarers despite the warnings.
