The fifth guiding principle out of the eight OCIMF principals on human factors, comes to highlight that people have the control of the tasks they are responsible for. As such, in the event of a mistake, they are able to give solution even though they had contributed to this failure at first place.
In essence, this principal highlights the importance of human factor at any workplace. Doing the job right requires both know-how and situational awareness. This is the reason why all business sectors have recently shed their attention to developing employee’s soft skills along with their hard skills.
Overall, to perform at their best, people need a challenge that is significant and interesting. They also need well-developed skills, so that they’re confident that they can meet the challenge, as explained positive psychologist Mihaly Csíkszentmihályi 30 years ago with ‘The Flow Model’.
