The Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has launched an investigation into a lifting incident that happened recently on the Jotun B facility in the Norwegian North Sea, on 19 May 2018.
An investigation team from the PSA is about to start work on Jotun B this week. The team wants to clarify the course of events and identify the direct and underlying causes in order to conclude to what lessons can be learned and transfer this knowledge.

The incident happened while raising a riser on the facility, where Point Resources AS is the operator.
As it is understood, the riser, which weighs 15 tonnes, had come loose from the lifting arrangement, and fell eight metres.
Nobody was injured as a result from the incident.
