Changes to organization structure
Offshore Oil and Gas Facilities Technical Supervision Division was formed at Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) incorporating Offshore Oil and Gas Facilities Design Expertise Department and Oil and Gas Equipment Technical Supervision Department.
According to Mikhail Ayvazov, RS Chief Executive Officer, ‘growth in the scale of hydrocarbon deposits development is a global trend. The continental shelf of Russia where many deposits in different regions from the Baltic Sea to the Sakhalin coast and from the Arctic to the northern area of the Caspian Sea are explored holds a special place in this promising trend. Today, the Register participates in all the major projects implemented on the RF continental shelf, and RS considers the development of ecological safety standards to be the highest priority in these cases. The aim of the new Division is to ensure a more efficient management in this sphere of activities strategic for RS’.
To participate in shelf development projects, RS has in conjunction with the leading research bodies developed a normative base continuously updated and covering Rules for the Classification, Construction and Equipment of Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODU) and Fixed Offshore Platforms (FOP), Rules for the Classification and Construction of Subsea Pipelines (SSP), Rules for the Classification, Construction and Equipment of Floating Offshore Oil-and-Gas Production Units, Rules for the Oil-and-Gas Equipment of Floating Offshore Oil-and-Gas Production Units, MODU and FOP.
