Spain has designed a new submarine, however this project encountered some problems. At first a design error made the submarine unable to float. Now, it has been discovered that its size is too big to fit at the docks at Cartagena.
In order to fix the first problem, of not being able to float, the submarine was lengthened, however now it can’t fit at the docks of Cartagena.
This is a problem that the Spanish Defence, Minister Margarita Robles admitted, as she said that there have been deficiencies in the project. However, they are now solved and the submarine is viable.

The problems started due to wrong estimations in the initial plans, and nobody noticed them. As a result, the cost of the submarine has doubled, and it is now estimated that it reaches €1bn.
Namely, the original design visioned a 71m, 2,200-ton displacement vessel. Now, after all the measures to correct the problems, the submarine is an 81m, 3,000-ton boat.
In order to be able to accommodate the submarine, the Cartagena base will now have to be dredged and reshaped.
