EU’s CORE LNGas Hive project, which involves more than 40 partners in Spain and Portugal and is coordinated by Enagas, has set up a mobile exhibition with the aim to raise awareness of the benefits of LNG as an alternative fuel.
The initiative is supported by a semi-trailer, which is being towed by an LNG-powered tractor unit on loan to Enagás from IVECO for this purpose, set out from Madrid today on its six-month itinerary around the Iberian Peninsula.
The mobile exhibition is expected to raise awareness of the fact that LNG is one of the most environmentally friendly fuels, which is why its use is being promoted for maritime transport and in port areas around Spain, Portugal and Europe.
This activity has taken profit of the study on the social perception of LNG, conducted in order to know what citizens, experts in the sector and institutions thought of LNG as an alternative fuel. The results of the study led to the strategy used in and the messages conveyed by this initiative.
CORE LNGas hive contributes to the decarbonisation of the European corridors of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic and is a step in the career of reduced emissions, the promotion of clean energy for transportation driven by the European Union.
