In 2017, the volume of freight loading and unloading in Albanian ports was 4 million tonnes, increasing by 7.1 % compared to 2016, according to data provided by the Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT).
Highlights for 2017
- The value of goods traded (exports and imports) is 899 billion lekë and 52.9 % of them is transported by sea.
- The number of passengers travelling by sea line is 1,507,116 increasing by 16.9% compared to 2016.
- Goods exported by sea represent 62.8 %, by road 35.8 % and by air 0.5 % of total exports of goods.
- Goods imported by sea represent 48.6 %, by road 43.8 % and by air 2.9 %.
In December 2017, goods exported by sea represent 63.0 %, by road 34.6 % and by air 0.7 % of total exports of goods, while goods imported by sea represent 46.0 %, by road 42.7 % and by air 3.6 %.
