Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) won an order for 2 LNG carriers from Maran Gas Maritime. The ships will be built at Okpo Shipyard and delivered to the owner in the second half of 2025.
The LNG carriers ordered this time are equipped with a high-pressure dual fuel propulsion engine that can significantly reduce the emission of exhaust gas to the atmosphere.
The order, which is worth around $435m, comes after the $420m deal Maria Angelicussis signed with DSME for another 174,000 cu m pair at the beginning of this year. The new order also includes 6 container ships.
As of now, DSME has won orders for a total of 12 ships/units, including five LNG carriers, six container ships, and one offshore plant, worth about $2.72 billion worth of ships and offshore plants.
In just one month, we have secured the same amount of orders received by May of last year (about $2.74 billion)
an official from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering said.
