In light of the COVID-19 outbreak and the major disruption that has brought within the cruise operations, Mitsui OSK Passenger Line restarted cruising onboard the Nippon Maru cruise ship.
According to Japan Times, the company begun post-coronavirus operations with the Nippon Maru, in line with the guidelines recently developed by the Japan Oceangoing Passenger Ship Association.
In fact, the guidance involves body temperature checks at each embarkation / disembarkation, an evaluation of each passenger’s travel history and contact history within the past 14 days and the use of face masks in indoor public spaces.
What is more, Nippon Maru departed the port of Niihama in Ehime Prefecture on 25 October and is expected to arrive at the port of Sasebo in Nagasaki Prefecture on the 26th.
For the records, this is the first time for a cruise vessel carrying passengers to go into service since the beginning of the pandemic on February.
Although the Nippon Maru has a capacity of 530 people, the number of guests is limited to only around 200, while some 100 crew members will be onboard.
Concluding, following the situatiom, Asuka II cruise ship operated by NYK Cruises Co. will also go back to service from November.
