Tremendous amount of feedback for the drafting team to review
In a clear indication of the strong level of interest in the newly revised NYPE charter party, three consultation seminars held in London, Stamford and Singapore in June and July have produced a tremendous amount of valuable feedback for the drafting team to review.
The single most important message received from those who joined the seminars to express their views was that the new edition of NYPE is well-constructed, comprehensive and relevant to today’s shipping industry. People are very interested in the new edition and are engaged with the project. However, the revised NYPE remains a work in progress.
The purpose of the consultation process has been to solicit the views of end-users so that the final published product reflects what they would like to see in a modern standard time charter party. The next step is for the drafting team to review all the many comments and suggestions and then polish the text. This process will begin in September and, all going well, be completed in time for the new NYPE to be considered for adoption in November.
