Manila International Container Terminal (MICT), the Philippines’ leading international gateway and flagship of International Container Terminal Services, Inc (ICTSI), further upgrades the country’s largest fleet of container-handling equipment with four new, Japanese hybrid rubber-tired gantries.
Mainly, the new rubber-tired gantries are constructed by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (MES).
They are part of a 16-unit fleet that runs on a combination of 22kVah Li-ion battery and a smaller diesel engine.
Additionally, they are planned to reduce terminal emissions by up to 40%.
The new RTGs will be deployed aiming to develop MICT’s yard productivity.

Moreover, before the end of Q3 of 2019, additionally eight hybrid RTGs with two post-Panamax quay cranes are scheduled to be delivered.
When fully delivered, the MICT fleet will be composed of 18 quay cranes and 58 RTGs – the largest containerized cargo handling fleet in the country.
Concluding, the terminal has invested more than US$80 million for capital equipment in MICT, enabling the country’s largest and most technologically advanced container terminal to meet rising levels of demand in the era of neo-Panamax vessels.
