In light of the coronavirus the Norwegian cruise company, Hurtigruten informed that ceased all of its opeations for this year, due to the increased COVID-19 cases in Europe and the US.
Namely, the company goals to further resume its cruise operations in January 2021.
Following this decision, Hurtigruten’s expedition cruises, which often take passengers into Arctic or Antarctic waters, will be negatively affected.
For the records, the company was the first cruise operator in global, which returned an oceangoing cruise ship to service in mid-June, touting reduced passenger capacity, social distancing and strict rules on hygiene.
Altghough, as several crewmembers and passengers onboard a Hurtigruten ship tested positive for the coronavirus following an Arctic cruise in July, it was triggered a police investigation into the circumstances.
