Yemen’s Houthis have asserted responsibility for another series of attacks on ships on May 27 in the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea, alongside targeting two U.S. destroyers in the Red Sea.
The vessels identified in the attacks include the Larego Desert and the MSC Mechela in the Indian Ocean, as well as the Minerva Lisa in the Red Sea, though confirmation from shipping companies or the U.S. military is still pending, as Reuters reports.
A few days ago, on May 24, Yemen’s Houthis claimed responsibility for launching assaults on three vessels in the Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and Arabian Sea.
According to Reuters, Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesperson, revealed that missiles were deployed against the ships, while drones were utilized against the U.S. destroyers. Despite the lack of specified timing for the attacks, this marks a continuation of Houthi aggression, which has expanded from the Red Sea.
The repercussions of these assaults are significant, prompting concerns about the potential spread of conflict and destabilization in the Middle East.
