As data from the National Bureau of Statistics highlight, the overall freight volume transferred to China experienced an increase of 7.1% year-on-year to 51.5 million tonnes in 2018.
According to the Bureau’s data, China’s freight throughput at some of its most crucial ports reached the 13.3 billion tonnes in 2018, experiencing an increase of 2.7%, in comparison to 2017.
Moreover, foreign trade throughput resulted to up to 4.2 billion tonnes, rising by 2%.

In addition to Chinese freight volumes, its LNG imports are also increased in January 2019 by 27.8% to 6.58 million tonnes, compared to last year.
China is also leading in the offshore wind sector, as the latest data released by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) highlight that the wind energy industry installed 51.3 GW of new capacity in 2018. China is now the top country to have installed more offshore capacity, in comparison to the rest.
